Rates
The basic rate is $300 per hour.
Initial evaluations are 90 minutes and the charge is $450.
60-minute sessions are $300.
30-minute sessions are $150.
The charge is the same whether medications are involved or not.
Other services, such as attending IEP meetings, are billed at the hourly rate in 15 minute increments.
Travel time to meetings at locations other than my office (your home, your child's school, e.g.) is charged at $1 per minute, as determined by Google Maps.
 

Insurances:

Anthem and Blue Cross/Blue Shield. Please note that your primary care provider must make a referral to Family Psychiatry of Maine OR ELSE YOUR COPAYMENT WILL BE DOUBLE if your subscriber number begins with prefix XVB, XVG, XVH, VBE, VBF, VBI, or VBJ. This includes public school employees, among others.

Optum/United Behavioral Health (this includes Harvard Pilgrim)

I am out-of-network for all other insurers.   That means that I do not have contracts with other  insurance companies which would permit me to submit billing claims.  Instead, you will need to check with your carrier to see what they will reimburse you for your visits with me. Most of the time it is between 60% and 80%.  There is a form available on the "helpful forms" page to guide you as you talk with your insurance company about their reimbursement policy.  On the one hand this may be more expensive for you, but on the other hand it also affords more privacy and confidentiality, and allows me to spend the amount of time with you that is appropriate to your needs, instead of having the insurance company dictate what they think you need.  I will provide you with a receipt for you to forward to your insurance company if you wish to be reimbursed.



What forms of payment do you accept?
I accept cash, checks, Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover.  Payment is made at the time of the visit.

Cancellation Policies
Patients who cancel on less than 24 hours' notice are or fail to show up will be charged charged  half the fee.  Valid excuses will be entertained.  The fee will have to be paid before you can reschedule.  This policy does not apply to Anthem members. However, Anthem members with 3 or more short-notice cancellations or no-shows will be discharged from the practice and will have 30 days to find services elsewhere.
